COUNSELLING

WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space where you can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing.

The role of a counsellor is to listen without judgment and, rather than give advice, help you to find your own answers.

Counselling sessions are offered on a weekly basis and are 50 minutes in duration. Short or long term counselling is available, depending on your individual requirements. There are many different and effective counselling approaches. Through exploring your concerns, an individual plan can be agreed, using the most appropriate therapeutic model.

Counselling offers you the space and support to explore and understand conscious/unconscious thoughts and feelings, to enable positive change. At times, tasks may be set to help understand current ways of thinking and areas for change. Exploration of previous experiences or trauma can help to shed light on the possible impacts they may have later in life, therefore a more in depth process may be beneficial.

Counselling is for anyone of any age, gender or background. People seek counselling for many reasons, all unique to the individual. I offer support to explore these issues on a one-to-one basis. Common concerns may include:

  • Family/ relationship issues
  • Bereavement/ loss
  • Stress
  • Abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Self-harm
  • Low self-esteem
  • Addiction
